Folk guitar
The Tanglewood TSF CE R Evolution is a Super Folk-style electro acoustic (see details below) featuring a Cedar top and laminated Mahogany body with cutaway. Its preamp is a basic but efficient Fishman Isys. The TSF CE N is a carefully crafted, versatile, easy-to-handle entry-mid-range guitar.
The woods- The TSF CE Evolution Super Folk features a laminated Cedar top; originally used by Spanish luthiers to build classical guitars, Cedar has been regularly used for steel-string acoustic guitars for some thirty years.
Less dense and softer than Spruce, it delivers a round, muffled yet balanced sound, with overtones* evenly distributed across the spectrum (*overtones are over-frequencies added to the fundamental frequency to enrich it).
The back and sides are made of laminated mahogany; mahogany is a dense wood producing a full, particularly warm sound, with 'long-lasting' sustain.Design- The Super Folk format is derived from the traditional Folk format, itself a product of the small-scale guitars offered at the beginning of the 20th century (Martin's "000" comes to mind, as does a classical guitar). Its modest dimensions are very comfortable, and distill a good balance of frequencies. On the other hand, volume and projection are less than those of a Jumbo or a Dreadnought. The Tanglewood TSF CE is pre-amplified, so it can be used on stage or in the studio without any problem. The cutaway greatly facilitates access to high notes.
