Electro acoustic guitar
Commemorative limited-edition model honoring Taylor's heritage.
The Legacy Collection includes three references that reinterpret Bob Taylor's first guitars, 800s combining the traditional woods of Rosewood and Spruce. The other two celebrate the brand's flagship Grand Auditorium, introduced in 1994, which defined the Taylor sound.
The TAYLOR Legacy Collection 514ce is an electro-acoustic Grand Auditorium-style steel-string acoustic guitar featuring a massive Western Red Cedar top, a solid tropical Mahogany back/side duo, an Ebony fingerboard and an LR Baggs Element VTC preamp.
Combined with the same X-bracing configuration of the original Grand Auditoriums, the Legacy 514ce's luthiery produces warm, dense and dynamic tones. The back and sides are made of Indian Rosewood, which Bob Taylor considers to be the superstar of woods. It has the fundamental temperament of Mahogany, with a strong midrange but a wider range of frequencies at the top and bottom of the spectrum. The Grand Auditorium or 000 size is the consensus. A hybrid between the Grand Concert (00 Classic Classical style) and the indispensable Dreadnought, it is considerably more compact than the latter, which obviously makes for more pleasant ergonomics. Its acoustic amplitude is logically less pronounced, but on the other hand its amplification is easier, with fewer feedback problems.
