The Yamaha Clavinova CLP-825 is a digital piano from the CLP-800 series, designed for regular practice at home. It features an 88-key GrandTouch-S keyboard, GrandTouch pedals, and the sounds of two concert grand pianos: the Yamaha CFX and the Bösendorfer Imperial.

GrandTouch-S Keyboard and GrandTouch Pedals

The GrandTouch-S keyboard features 88 keys with escapement and synthetic ivory and ebony surfaces. Four sensitivity settings allow you to adjust the sound response to your touch, including a fixed setting.

The GrandTouch pedals reproduce a resistance that decreases as you release them, just like on a grand piano. The pedal set includes a sustain pedal with half-pedal function, a sostenuto pedal, and a soft pedal.

Yamaha CFX and Bösendorfer Imperial Piano Sounds

The CLP-825 features sampled sounds from the Yamaha CFX and the Bösendorfer Imperial. You can choose between these two concert grand pianos and access a total of 10 sounds.

The maximum polyphony of 256 notes allows notes and their sustain to be maintained in passages using the sustain pedal.

VRM Resonance and Grand Expression Modeling Nuances

Virtual Resonance Modeling technology simulates the resonances of an acoustic piano by taking into account the keys played and pedal usage. In particular, it reproduces the interactions between the strings to enrich chords and sustained notes.

Grand Expression Modeling varies the tone according to your playing style. This technology takes into account key movements to reproduce the nuances of attack and release.

2 × 20 W Amplification and Headphone Output

The CLP-825 features two 12-cm speakers with horns, powered by a 2 × 20 W amplifier.

When using headphones, the CFX Grand sound features binaural sampling that recreates the piano’s spatial perception. The two headphone jacks allow you to work with a teacher or play duets without using the speakers.

Bluetooth Audio, Smart Pianist, and MIDI Recording

Bluetooth audio lets you stream music from a compatible smartphone or tablet to the piano’s speakers. This allows you to play along with a song or backing track.

The Smart Pianist app lets you control compatible functions from a smartphone or tablet. The CLP-825 also features a USB TO HOST connection for linking to a compatible device.

The built-in MIDI recorder saves a piece on two tracks. You can record each hand’s part separately, then play them back to refine your performance. A metronome is also built in.
