Touch and Action

The Smart Scaled Hammer Action keyboard combines hammer action with digital control of the sound response. The five sensitivity settings adjust how the sound responds to your touch, without changing the mechanical resistance of the keys. The key surfaces feature textures inspired by ivory for the white keys and ebony for the black keys.

The pedalboard includes the forte, sostenuto, and soft pedals. The forte pedal distinguishes between the released, half-depressed, and fully depressed positions, allowing you to achieve an intermediate sustain of notes without continuous pedal detection.

Sounds and Layering

The Multi-Dimensional Morphing AiR engine offers 19 sounds. For piano sounds, it simulates, among other things, the resonances of the strings and the forte pedal, as well as the mechanical noises of the keys and dampers. The lid simulator offers four levels to adjust the tone color.

Layer mode overlays two sounds—such as piano and strings—with the exception of the bass sound. Split mode reserves the left zone for this bass sound, while the right hand plays a different sound. The maximum polyphony of 192 voices is used to handle simultaneous notes, layered sounds, and notes sustained by the pedal.

Learning and Recording

The metronome provides a guide for practicing rhythm. The 60 built-in songs allow you to mute one hand’s part and play it while the piano plays the other. Duo mode divides the keyboard into two zones with comparable ranges so you can practice side-by-side with a teacher.

The MIDI recorder saves a piece on two tracks as performance data. You can record one part, then play the second while listening to the first. To create an audio file, the audio recorder saves your performance in WAV format to a USB flash drive, with a maximum of 99 files of approximately 25 minutes each.

Speakers and Headphone Playback

Two 12-cm speakers provide sound without the need for external amplification. The amplification is 16 W + 16 W, with a maximum power output of 20 W + 20 W. The Volume Sync EQ function adjusts the frequency balance when you lower the volume.

The two headphone jacks allow two people to listen at the same time. Headphone mode adapts the sound processing for this use; however, the physical sounds of the keys and pedals remain audible in the room.

Bluetooth and Apps

The included WU-BT10 adapter receives audio from a smartphone or tablet and plays it through the piano’s speakers. Bluetooth MIDI transmits performance data to compatible apps. CASIO MUSIC SPACE, in particular, allows you to adjust the instrument’s settings from a mobile device.

The USB Type-B port also enables a wired MIDI connection to a compatible computer. This connection exchanges performance data; audio recording to a USB flash drive uses the Type-A port.

Setup

The cabinet measures 140.1 cm wide, 44 cm deep, and 86.9 cm high, excluding the music stand. The entire unit weighs approximately 47.1 kg with the stand and music stand: plan for a permanent location and enough space behind it for the seat.

The European manufacturer’s package includes the stand with pedal unit, the music stand, the AC power supply, the WU-BT10 adapter, and a headset hook. The bench is not included in this package; its inclusion depends on the specific offer.
