Digital piano with stand
The Casio Celviano AP-300GB is an 88-key digital piano designed for learning and regular practice at home. Its beige finish, graded hammer-action keyboard, and Multi-Dimensional Morphing AiR sound engine make it an ideal instrument for pianists looking to develop their technique and refine their nuances. It also features three pedals, stereo amplification, and recording functions to help track your progress.
Key Features
- 88-key Smart Scaled Hammer Action keyboard with graded hammer action, featuring 5 sensitivity levels to adjust the sound response to your touch.
- Multi-Dimensional Morphing AiR sound engine with 19 tones, resonance simulations, and a maximum polyphony of 192 notes to support playing with the pedal.
- 88-key Digital Scaling technology and a 4-level lid-opening simulator to adjust the piano’s sound response.
- Three built-in pedals, including a sustain pedal compatible with half-pedal control to modulate note sustain.
- 20 W + 20 W stereo amplification with two 12-cm speakers, two headphone jacks, and a Volume Sync EQ function for practicing at home.
- 60 built-in songs, MIDI and audio recorders, Bluetooth Audio and MIDI via the included WU-BT10 adapter.
Touch and Action
The Smart Scaled Hammer Action keyboard uses a scaled hammer action mechanism to provide resistance tailored to different registers. Combined with digital control of each key, this mechanism allows you to work on articulation, consistency, and variations in intensity, from beginner etudes to more complex pieces.
The 5 sensitivity levels adjust how volume and tone respond to your touch, without changing the mechanical resistance of the keys. This allows you to tailor the sound response to your playing style. The 88-key Digital Scaling technology also adapts the sound characteristics to each note on the keyboard.
Tones and Resonance
The Multi-Dimensional Morphing AiR engine dynamically changes the piano’s timbre based on playing intensity. It also reproduces several acoustic phenomena, including string resonance, damper pedal resonance, hammer response, and the sounds associated with the operation of the keys and pedals. These parameters help vary the sound based on how you play and use the pedals.
The lid-opening simulator offers 4 levels to adjust the piano’s tonal character. With 19 tones and a maximum polyphony of 192 notes, the AP-300GB allows you to practice a variety of repertoires while maintaining sufficient voice capacity for chords, sustained notes, and passages using the sustain pedal.
Layer and Split Functions
The Layer function allows you to layer two sounds—for example, a piano and strings—to play both simultaneously. Split mode assigns a bass sound to the left half of the keyboard and a different sound to the right half.
Duo mode, also known as four-hand mode, divides the keyboard into two zones with comparable ranges. It allows a teacher and a student to play side by side, or two pianists to work on the same passage on a single instrument.
Pedals and Dynamics
The built-in pedalboard includes the forte, soft, and sostenuto pedals. The forte pedal sustains notes after the keys are released and supports half-pedaling, which provides an intermediate sustain rather than a simple on/off response.
The soft pedal modifies the sound response for more subdued passages, while the sostenuto pedal sustains the notes selected at the moment it is activated. These three controls allow you to practice different pedaling techniques without adding any accessories.
Headphone Output and Amplification
The AP-300GB features two 12-cm speakers powered by a 20 W + 20 W stereo amplifier. This built-in system allows you to play directly in a room without needing external speakers. The Volume Sync EQ function adjusts the frequency balance at low volumes, making it easier to practice when you want to keep the sound level down.
Two headphone jacks allow two people to play or listen together without using the speakers. Headphone mode adapts the sound output for this listening scenario, which is particularly useful for practicing in the evening or working for long periods without disturbing others in the room.
Learning and Recording
The Celviano AP-300GB includes 60 built-in songs, and the right-hand and left-hand parts can be turned on or off separately. You can listen to one part while practicing the other, then combine both hands. The built-in metronome helps maintain a steady tempo and gradually work through difficult passages.
The 2-track MIDI recorder stores performance data, including notes and pedal usage. It allows you to listen back to your performance and work on multiple parts separately. To save a true audio file, the audio recorder saves performances in WAV format to a compatible USB flash drive, with up to 99 recordings of approximately 25 minutes each.
Bluetooth and Apps
The included WU-BT10 adapter provides Bluetooth Audio and Bluetooth MIDI Low Energy connectivity. Bluetooth Audio allows you to stream an accompaniment track from a smartphone or tablet to the piano’s speakers. This connection is used to receive audio, not to transmit the piano’s sound to Bluetooth headphones.
Bluetooth MIDI transmits musical data and, in particular, allows you to use the CASIO MUSIC SPACE app on a compatible device. This app provides access to a graphical interface for adjusting various piano functions. USB Type-A and Type-B ports round out the connectivity options, particularly for using a USB flash drive and for MIDI communication with a computer.
Setup and Features
The Casio AP-300GB features a classic beige cabinet with a sliding keyboard cover and a music stand. It measures 140.1 cm wide, 44 cm deep, and 86.9 cm tall without the music stand, and weighs approximately 47.1 kg. It therefore requires a dedicated space with enough room behind it to place a bench and play comfortably.
The three-pedal pedalboard is built into the cabinet. The music stand, AC adapter, headphone hook, and WU-BT10 Bluetooth adapter are also included by Casio. The bench does not appear in the list of accessories provided by the manufacturer for this model.
