With this new version, Catalinbread has added a Bias setting that gives a little more gain and body than the original circuit, by simulating components not found at the heart of the preamp.
Catalinbread tested circuits from early products to the latest and found the differences a little too subtle, so they decided to add a Filter setting to give you access to all these circuits and more, a discrete high-cut filter that lets you tailor the pedal to your setup.
The Preamp setting lets you activate a soft filter that simulates the volume control of the original Echoplex, acting on the sound as an echo would. The original EP-3 circuit added a negligible amount of gain, so Catalinbread included a Boost setting to get as much gain as possible, giving you punch when you need it.
