Str shape electric guitar
Unique copy bearing the serial number #R132221. Net weight (without case): 3.55 kg.
FENDER Custom Shop Stratocaster 1961 Masterbuilt MBKM Relic Fiesta Red #R132221 (9217001043) solid body electric guitar was hand built by masterbuilder Kyle McMillin.
This solid body electric guitar features hand-selected lightweight 2-pieces Alder body, "60's Oval C" neck profile, flat-lam AAA African Blackwood fingerboard with a 7.25" radius and StewMac medium frets, and Fat 50's hand-wound pickups.
The guitar comes with a case, strap and Fender Custom Shop certificate of authenticity.
While Brazilian rosewood remains the standard wood for comparing sounds made by guitars, many musicians choose the Tasmanian or Australian Blackwood as their guitar tonewood. The sounds and tones these guitars make is “sweet,” and distinct. It is different from the Brazilian rosewood tone, and adds a certain beauty and nuance to the tune and sound of the instrument.
African blackwood is denser and harder than either ebony or Brazilian rosewood. Not as deep as Brazilian Rosewood, and not as tight as Mahogany, it could be the optimum wood for power, clarity, punch, and harmonic complexity.
Ancho Poblano Stratocaster pickups are a special sonic recipe, with each pickup individually calibrated from neck to bridge. Each pickup is also uniquely overwound by hand for a wide range of high-output tones. That makes them ideal for the player in search of the perfect amount of heat—from vintage with a kick to Texas-style bold to full-throttle blistering—and plenty of flexibility.
Kyle McMillin brings 15 years of musical instrument experience to the Fender Custom Shop. A loyal Fender employee for 15 years, McMillin just finished a five-year apprenticeship under Principal Master Builder Yuriy Shishkov — working on nearly 1,000 guitars with the esteemed builder. McMillin now joins a team of the world’s finest guitar builders as a Master Builder at the Fender Custom Shop.
