Str shape electric guitar
The FENDER Stories Collection Eric Johnson 1954 "Virginia" Stratocaster solid body electric guitar (0117442803) belongs to the Stories Collection range, which pays tribute to legendary musicians and the specific instruments they used during their careers. Eric Johnson already owned his 1954 "Virginia" Stratocaster when he recorded the avant-garde essentials Tones* and Ah Via Musicom**, albums that made him an authentic guitar-hero, so this instrument is reproduced both by the Custom Shop and in a "mass-market" version by the Corona department.
This very vintage Strat is distinguished by its body made of Sassafras, a prestigious Tasmanian species with the ability to adapt to the musician's playing style and personality.
Sassafras may evoke a variety of traditional woods, but broadly speaking it combines the characteristics of Walnut, Mahogany, Maple and Rosewood. The Dimarzio HS-2 bridge pickup is an evolution of the original HS, the first stack humbucker to appear in the 80's. On the Eric Johnson, only the top coil is active. Its design gives it a convincing vintage sound with much less background noise, perfect for use with Hi-Gain amplifiers and rack systems. *(1987 Grammy for best Rock Instrumental Performance) **(1991 Grammy for best Rock Instrumental Performance)
