Folk guitar
The Gibson J-45 - aka The Workhorse and introduced in 1942 - is one of the most popular acoustic guitars of all time. This Dreadnought Slope Shoulder has literally helped shape the sound of American music, recorded on countless iconic albums. Its warm, expressive and well-balanced tones have made it a must-have.
The GIBSON J-45 Century 12-Fret (OCRS4C12AN) is an evolution of the original 14-Fret model, offered in a 12-Fret version for the first time in current production (Gibson has offered variants of the J-45 12-Fret in the past, but always in limited editions or in collaboration with artists).
The 12-Fret feature consists in repositioning the neck so that it protrudes from the body from the twelfth fret, with the bridge also pushed outwards, while keeping the same scale (24.75"). The effect of this design is to let the soundboard vibrate more freely and to soften string tension. The all-solid-wood construction combines traditional woods with a Sitka spruce top, mahogany neck and body, and rosewood fingerboard (19 frets). A classic combination in the best sense of the word, providing an excellent balance of warmth and clarity, with a strong midrange. The GIBSON J-45 Century 12-Fret is a fundamentally versatile folk guitar, but its special features will appeal in particular to finger-pickers and guitarists who attack the strings in moderation.
