Supervised by Master Luthier Chuck Sanzone, this GUILD GSR D-55 70th Anniversary Limited #C231092 celebrates the seventieth anniversary of the original D-55. Offered in a limited edition of seventy, the GSR (Guild Special Run) D-55 70th Anniversary is a luxurious Dreadnought crafted from exceptional woods: Adirondack Spruce top and bracing, Madagascar Rosewood back and sides, Mahogany neck, Ebony fingerboard.
Designed for a special order in 1968, the D-55 was so successful that it was integrated into regular production in 1974. Popularized by Tommy Smothers on the Smothers Brothers Show in the '60s, the D-55 has become a must-have in the arsenal of contemporary artists such as Waylon Jennings, Billie Joe Armstrong and David Nail.
