Overdrive, distortion & fuzz effect pedal
Most octave / fuzz pedals on the market are inspired by three models: the Octavia, the Super Fuzz and the Tone Machine. The JHS PEDALS Coyote Octave Fuzz doesn't fall into this category! It's a reproduction of the Moonrock Fuzz pedal, whose circuit was designed by G.S. Wyllie. This American manufacturer (a contemporary of Jimi Hendrix, whom he met on several occasions and whose sound he constantly sought to reproduce) is known for his old-school productions and for having developed a fuzz using a transformer in an unconventional way.
This circuit, considered lost, is once again available in the JHS Coyote!
It's the Swell / Fuzz / Octave control that sets the Coyote apart from other fuzzes on the market. The travel of the potentiometer transforms the signal progressively, leaving you the option of finding intermediate positions between the three options: - Swell - sounds are born subtly with a "Gate" color reminiscent of an inverted tape. Fuzz - produces a generous fuzz, with dense bass and taut mids. Think Tone Bender for grit and attack, with signal sustain that lets you exploit complex riffing and sophisticated chords. - Octave - asymmetrical clipping alters the harmonic balance, exacerbating even harmonics, especially the second. When played note by note, the effect is a frank and expressive upper octave, all the more musical when played in the high register of the neck (with the neck pickup, beyond the twelfth fret, the effect takes on its full dimension). The JHS Coyote is an extraordinary fuzz: versatile, adaptive, surprising, subtle, organic, inspiring. Depending on the settings, it will excel in Stoner, Shoegaze, Ambient, synth simulation and, of course, vintage Hendrix-style psychedelic rock. It's probably one of the most responsive fuzzes on the market, rendering every detail of your performance.
