The MARTIN & CO Custom Shop CS-D-C23036662 #2811855 is a 14-fret Dreadnought-style steel-string acoustic guitar for which the Star's Music team selected the wood species on site, in the Custom Shop Martin workshops.
All woods are, of course, solid. It features a premium Italian spruce top and bracing, a Cocobolo back and sides combo, and an Ebony fingerboard.
Originally from the Dolomites, the high peaks of the northeastern Italian Alps (1400 to 1800 meters), Italian Alpine Spruce is considered one of the finest Red Spruces.
The region's particularly dry, cold climate and short vegetative cycle (100 days a year) ensure regular tree growth. Italian Alpine Spruce is the ideal combination of astonishing lightness and strength, with optimum vibration transmission. Cocobolo is a rosewood from the forests of Central America. It is prized for its aesthetic appeal and generous tonal spectrum, giving the guitars of which it is made a remarkable flexibility of sound and style.
