The MARTIN & CO Custom Shop CS-D-C23035477 #2819082 is a 14-fret Dreadnought-style steel-string acoustic guitar for which the Star's Music team selected the wood species on site, in the Custom Shop Martin workshops. It features a premium Sitka Spruce top and bracing, a Cocobolo back and sides combo, and an Ebony fingerboard.
Sitka spruce is the traditional choice for the vast majority of acoustic guitars. Thanks to a perfect balance between robustness and elasticity, Sitka generates a direct, punchy sound with impeccable articulation. These characteristics give Sitka great flexibility of sound and adaptability to virtually any playing style: strumming, flatpicking or fingerpicking. The bracing is made of Adirondack spruce. Abundant in the 1930s, when it was used extensively for Martin guitar soundboards,"Red Spruce" or "Adirondack" spruce (Picea Rubens) enjoys enormous popularity. More dense than common spruce, Adirondack spruce is exceptionally responsive. Cocobolo is a rosewood from the forests of Central America. It is prized for its attractive appearance and generous tonal spectrum, giving the guitars of which it is made a remarkable flexibility of sound and style.
