The MARTIN & CO Custom Shop CS-D-C23036416 #2816485 is a 14-fret Dreadnought-style steel-string acoustic guitar for which the Star's Music team selected the wood species on site, in the Custom Shop Martin workshops (in this case set #40). All the woods are solid, of course, and it features an Adirondack Spruce top and bracing, a Guatemalan Rosewood back and sides combo, and an Ebony fingerboard.
Adirondack is one of the most prized varieties of spruce. Its clarity and projection are unquestionably superior to those of traditional Sitka Spruce, with hushed midrange. Guatemalan Rosewood has tonal qualities close to those of Brazilian Rosewood, whose exploitation has unfortunately been banned by the CITES organization. It is considered one of the most prestigious species, offering warm, rich and powerful sonorities.
