Folk guitar
This MARTIN GUITAR D-X1 acoustic guitar features the iconic Dreadnought body shape, built from high-pressure laminate (HPL) giving you durability and classic Martin style.
Playability enhancements include a thinner fingerboard with a gently beveled comfort edge and refined string spacing, and a modernized bridge contour for a smooth and comfortable playing experience.
Its signature size is loud and projective with strong bass, lending itself to any genre and experience level. The D-X1 also features a select hardwood neck, fingerboard, and bridge.
HPL is made up of several layers. At its core are sheets of paper impregnated with thermosetting resins (typically phenolic) that are bonded together, and then adorned with photographic reproductions (wood or original paintings like on this DX Woodstock).
Martins made with HPL back and sides have a distinct, pretty ring, and plenty of Rosewood-like clear bass response.
HPL is impervious to fluctuations in weather and humidity.
Ebony has been a wood of unsustainable harvesting, as a consequence many guitar companies including Martin or Gibson use Richlite, a phenolic resin/cellulose compound material with excellent tone.
