The MXR Jail Guitar Doors Drive pedal captures the raw, grainy tones that Wayne Kramer used to revolutionize rock 'n' roll on the legendary MC5 recordings of the early 1970s.
The MXR Jail Guitar Doors Drive delivers rich, powerful tones, reminiscent of two 100-watt amps pushed hard. Johnny combined his Drive-Bi Dual Gain distortion pedal with the MXR Micro Amp to create two distinct, cascading gain stages. A single potentiometer controls the outputs of both circuits; the higher the volume, the greater the gain of the first stage for the second. Equalization is wide and balanced, offering all the definition needed to make itself heard in a dense live mix, with a powerful, harmonically rich sound. And it has passed the ultimate test: a prototype of this pedal, used during an MC5 recording session, has been integrated into the album.
