Introduced in the late '60s, Ovation acoustic guitars stand out from the crowd with their Lyrachord bodies and soundboards fitted with elegant, functional Multi-Soundholes. Lyrachord is a composite material derived from the aeronautics industry; omnidirectional silicone fiber combined with resins, the formulation of which required several years of research before arriving at an alternative to traditional woods, offering not only a light and robust structure, but also remarkable acoustic power and sustain.
In the same spirit of innovation, Ovation has opted for the "Multi-Soundhole" soundhole concept, which delivers clear, detailed highs, as well as precise, well-adjusted bass frequencies. The soundboard is made of laminated Maple ("Quilt" variety), equipped with sculpted X-type bracing, nevertheless customized by Ovation to accentuate dynamics and power, while retaining the natural sound of Spruce.
The satin-finish neck in Nato (mahogany variety) is very pleasing, and features up to 23 frets on the E and B strings. As for pre-amplification, an Ovation OP-4BT offers volume, gain and 3-band EQ controls, as well as a tuner and battery indicator LED.
