A guitar designed with exceptional attention to detail

The PRS Limited Edition John Mayer SE Silver Sky Defender (Petra Copper) is the result of a close collaboration between John Mayer and Paul Reed Smith. This guitar draws inspiration from the vintage instruments that have shaped Mayer’s career, and every detail has been carefully optimized to provide him with the ideal single-coil pickup guitar. In addition, the 635JM “S” pickups deliver full, rich, and exceptionally musical tones—especially in the high frequencies—ensuring uncompromising live performance.

A Carefully Considered Choice of Materials for Optimal Tone

The body of the Silver Sky Defender is made of poplar, a wood species often considered an economical alternative to alder. Although widely available, poplar is selected for its ability to produce a clear and balanced tone, making it a wise choice for entry-level and mid-range instruments.
