The Bitmap is a bit crusher with fractional bit reduction and sample rate modulation. Bitmap 2 adds waveshaping and wavefolding functions, as well as a window comparator for extreme digital distortion. The Drive setting adapts to everything from single-coil microphones to synths, with +8dBu of maximum signal level and enough gain to sound like a saturated console channel. Modulation and envelope controls create dynamic, responsive distortion and digital effects.
The Bitmap 2 is designed to give maximum sustain without destroying your staccatos. With less extreme settings, you'll get non-linear layers that interact subtly to give the warmth of 8- and 12-bit samplers. Sample rate reduction transforms your guitar into 8-bit video game sounds, or hijacks your scales into inharmonic melodies. Sample rate modulation adds subtle movement and gives your guitar completely new sound textures.
