Unique copy bearing the serial number R117579. Net weight (without case): 3.38 kg.
The FENDER Custom Shop 1957 Telecaster #R117579 (9237002415), featuring a double humbucking pickup in the tradition of Keith Richards' Telecaster Custom, offers a fuller, rounder sound than the traditional Tele. It features a select two-piece Ash body, a Plain Grain Maple neck with '57 Soft V profile, a Maple fingerboard (radius 9.5" radius), a duo of Original Blackguard OBG (hand-wound) pickups in bridge position and Seymour Duncan '59 SH-1 in neck position, and a nitrocellulose finish for authentic vintage look and feel (Super Faded Desert Sand Over 2-Color Sunburst finish). Sold with Fender Custom Shop case with certificate of authenticity. Fender Telecasters and Stratocasters are timeless, referential. They are an integral part of the history of amplified music, having made a major contribution to its expansion and democratization. Ideally, you'd like to be the proud owner of an original from the 50s or 60s, but the price of vintage examples is so high that it's difficult for anyone to gain access to them. Concerning the Relic finish: the dealers present at NAMM 1995 were totally blown away by the level of realism of the first two Relic models that Fender presented to them that year. Most mistook them for genuine Fender originals (a '51 Nocaster and a '56 Mary Kaye Stratocaster).
The Fender "relicing" process has now become a way of life, and is the mainstay of Custom Shop sales.
