Solid body electric bass
Unique copy bearing the serial number R135935. Net weight (without case): 3.98 kg.
Developed around a "1959 Precision Bass Base Model" matrix, this FENDER Custom Shop 1964 Precision Bass Heavy Relic #R135935 (9238014722) is an impeccable reproduction of a benchmark instrument, certainly the most recorded bass on countless legendary albums.
It features carefully selected woods (two-piece Alder body, Maple neck & AAA Rosewood fingerboard, "60's Oval C" neck profile) and faithful reproductions of pickups, bridge and tuning machines. Sold with Fender Custom Shop hardshell case and certificate of authenticity.
The Fender Telecaster, Stratocaster, Jazzmaster, Jaguar Precision Bass or Jazz Bass are legendary electrics that are an integral part of the history of amplified music, having amply contributed to its expansion and democratization.
The ideal would be to be the proud owner of an original from the 50s or 60s, but the price of vintage instruments is so high that it's difficult for anyone to get access to them. Concerning the Relic finish: the dealers present at NAMM 1995 were totally blown away by the level of realism of the first two Relic models that Fender presented to them that year. Despite being vintage connoisseurs, they mistook them for genuine Fender originals (a '51 Nocaster and a '56 Mary Kaye Stratocaster).
The early-aging process is now fully mastered, and accounts for the bulk of Custom Shop sales.
