The FENDER Custom Shop Limited Edition 70th Anniversary 1954 Stratocaster Masterbuilt Andy Hicks Heavy Relic Wide-Fade 2-Color Sunburst #XN4681 (9218002819) celebrates the platinum anniversary of a quintessential solid body electric guitar.

It features hand-picked components: two-piece body in resonant Ash "sort for lightweight" (musical highs, muffled mids, precise basses), neck and fingerboard in quarter-sawn Maple (profile 07/54 Soft "V" based on an original Stratocaster from July 1954, hybrid radius 7.25" > 9.5" radius, Jescar medium-vintage frets), Custom Shop hand-wound '54 Strat pickups, Custom Shop hardware. Andy Hicks trained as a luthier, joining the Guitar Craft Academy in Hollywood in 2009. He subsequently joined the Fender / Jackson Custom Shop. From 2013 to 2018 he was assistant to Senior Master Builder Steve Stern at Gretsch Custom Shop. This gave him the opportunity to work with many renowned musicians. Most notably, he collaborated on the Malcolm Young "Salute" Jet.
In 2018, Andy was recruited by James Tyler to oversee the production of his guitars, and subsequently joined the Fender Custom Shop as Master Builder.
