Folk guitar
First produced from 1932 to 1945, the Gibson L-00 was an extremely popular compact steel-string acoustic guitar. The GIBSON L-00 Century 12-Fret (OCSBLC12AN) is an evolution of the original 14-Fret L-00, offered in a 12-Fret version for the first time in regular production.
The 12-Fret feature consists in repositioning the neck, which comes out of the body from the twelfth fret, with the bridge also pushed outwards, while keeping the same scale (24.75"). The effect of this design is to let the soundboard vibrate more freely and to soften string tension. The all-solid-wood construction combines traditional woods with a Sitka spruce top, mahogany neck and body, and rosewood fingerboard (19 frets). A classic combination in the best sense of the word, providing an excellent balance of warmth and clarity, with a strong midrange. The GIBSON L-00 Century 12-Fret is a fundamentally versatile folk guitar, with remarkable projection for its modest dimensions, but with features that will appeal in particular to finger-pickers and guitarists who attack the strings with moderation.
