The MARTIN & CO Custom Shop CS-OM-C23035507 #2816489 is an Orchestra Model-style steel-string acoustic guitar whose wood species were selected by the Star's Music team in the Custom Shop Martin workshops. It features an Adirondack Spruce top and bracing, a "Sinker" Mahogany back and sides combo, and an Ebony fingerboard.
An exceptional model, perfectly balanced across the entire frequency spectrum, with outstanding responsiveness and a unique temperament. Abundant in the 1930s, when it was used extensively for the soundboards of Martin guitars,"Red Spruce" or "Adirondack" Spruce (Picea Rubens) enjoys enormous popularity. More dense than common Spruce, Adirondack Spruce has outstanding responsiveness. Adirondack is one of the most sought-after spruce varieties. Its clarity and projection are unquestionably superior to those of traditional Sitka Spruce, with a muffled mid-range. Sinker" Mahogany has been harvested from trunks that have been immersed in lakes or rivers over a long period, and whose structure has been penetrated by minerals. This process gives them a greater density and weight, which has proved extremely beneficial in terms of sonority.
