Produced in a limited edition of fifty, the folk MARTIN GUITAR Limited Edition Custom Shop Expert D-18 1937 Sinker Mahogany is a sublime replica of the original 1937 Dreadnought D-18, a major model in the hierarchy of acoustic guitars.
It is made from solid, premium-quality woods (Adirondack Spruce top, Authentic 1937 forward shifted hand-scaled X bracing in Adirondack Spruce, East Indian Rosewood back and sides, Mahogany neck, Ebony fingerboard), and finished with a Vintage Gloss Aging Toner to give it an absolutely realistic vintage look. Adirondack is one of the most prized varieties of Spruce. Its clarity and projection are unquestionably superior to those of traditional Sitka Spruce, with muffled mids. Sinker" Mahogany has been harvested from trunks that have been immersed in lakes or rivers over long periods, and whose structure has been penetrated by minerals. This process gives them a greater density and weight, which has proved extremely beneficial in terms of sonority .
