This work has culminated in the development of the new Port technology. At the heart of this innovation is an off-center soundhole, combined with a completely redesigned dam. The traditional placement of the soundhole disturbs a potentially highly productive area of the soundboard, located between the neck and the bridge. By relocating the soundhole, Michael Kelly has been able to optimize this area, delivering a richer, more resonant sound. This improvement is particularly noticeable on models with integrated electronics, where the increased resonance, combined with the bridge's piezo pickup, produces far superior results.
