Folk guitar
200 Series, Grand Concert type. Made in Mexico. The TAYLOR 212ce Plus electro-acoustic folk guitar features a solid torrefied Sitka spruce top, a laminated Indian rosewood back and side duo, a neo-tropical mahogany neck, an Ebony fingerboard and the Expression System ES2 preamp. Taylor introduced its Grand Concert size in 1984, to meet the demands of a certain category of highly technical guitarists. It's a compact, streamlined, hyper-friendly format, with a restricted tonal footprint that facilitates recording on stage or in the studio.
Inducing less string tension, the 24.7/8" scale also contributes to the great playing comfort of these models.
Sitka spruce is the traditional choice for the vast majority of acoustic guitars. Thanks to a perfect balance between robustness and elasticity, Sitka generates a direct, punchy sound with impeccable articulation. These characteristics give this species great flexibility of sound and adaptability to virtually any playing style: strumming, flatpicking or fingerpicking. Indian Rosewood is definitely one of the most popular traditional woods. It has the fundamental fingerprint of mahogany, with a strong midrange (albeit more subdued), but with a much wider range of frequencies at the bottom and top of the spectrum. In addition to giving the wood a lovely patina, the torrefaction process improves tuning stability, sustain, clarity and resonance.
Taylor Expression System 2 Preamp: in order to faithfully reproduce the amplitude and fundamental character of their acoustics, it took Taylor several years to develop the Expression System (ES). Thanks to new sensors and a substantially reworked circuit, the Expression System 2 offers even greater responsiveness and dynamics, and according to Taylor, around 25% more warmth.
