The TAYLOR Sunset Blvd 214ce Eclipse Burst electro-acoustic steel-string acoustic guitar features a solid roasted Sitka spruce top, a laminated walnut back and sides, a neo-tropical mahogany neck, an ebony fingerboard, and the Expression System ES2 preamp.
The Grand Auditorium body style (a Taylor trademark since 1994) is widely popular. A hybrid between the Grand Concert (classical 00 style) and the iconic Dreadnought, it is noticeably more compact than the latter, which obviously makes it more comfortable to play.
Its acoustic projection is, as expected, less pronounced, but on the other hand, it’s easier to amplify with fewer feedback issues.
Sitka spruce is the traditional choice for the vast majority of acoustic guitars. Thanks to a perfect balance between strength and elasticity, Sitka spruce produces a direct, punchy sound with impeccable articulation. These characteristics give this wood great tonal flexibility and the ability to adapt to virtually any playing style: strumming, flatpicking, or fingerpicking.
As a compromise between rosewood, mahogany, and maple, walnut offers a well-balanced low-mid-high frequency response, combined with remarkable clarity. Its bass is rich and precise, its mids are dense, and its highs are full-bodied.
In addition to giving the wood a beautiful patina, the roasting process improves the instrument’s tuning stability, sustain, clarity, and resonance.
Taylor Expression System 2 Preamp: To faithfully reproduce the full range and fundamental character of their acoustic guitars, it took Taylor several years to develop the Expression System (ES).
Thanks to new pickups and a significantly redesigned circuit, the Expression System 2 offers even greater responsiveness and dynamics, and, according to Taylor, about 25% more warmth.
