Overview
The FENDER Limited Edition American Vintage II 1972 Telecaster Thinline (0170392805) semi-hollow-body electric guitar is a modern reinterpretation that offers an appealing alternative to the reissues in the Fender Custom Shop’s Time Machine series. Designed to capture the spirit of vintage models from the ’50s, ’60s, and ’70s, it promises tones of remarkable authenticity.
A construction that is both traditional and modern
Designed by luthier Roger Rossmeisl in 1968, this guitar is distinguished by its “f”-shaped soundhole and unique pickguard. It went into production in 1969 and was updated in 1972 with innovative features:
- A pair of Fender Wide Range humbucking pickups
- A truss rod adjustable from the neck
- A three-screw neck joint for greater stability
Its semi-hollow body design reduces weight compared to a traditional solid-body Telecaster, meeting the needs of musicians seeking comfort.
A return to its roots for an authentic sound
With the introduction of the American Vintage series in the early 1980s, Fender made a strong comeback following the CBS era. The models in this series are the result of a meticulous restoration of the original tooling, the development of new pickups, and a reinterpretation of vintage colors. This guitar perfectly captures the essence of the ’70s while offering a modern playing experience.
