The original Gibson Dove was produced from 1962 through the end of that decade. Combining the features of the Hummingbird (Square Shoulder Dreadnought) with the maple body of the SJ-200, the Dove was designed to compete with Martin models in the high-end market. It was favored by numerous pop, rock, and country stars, such as Elvis Presley, Emmylou Harris, Tom Petty, Alex Lifeson, and John Mellencamp. The GIBSON Original Collection Dove (OCSSDOHFAN) retains these fundamental characteristics while featuring a Baggs HiFi DNA preamp.

The Hummingbird Original features the exclusive Baggs HiFi DNA system. This system uses two pickups positioned under the bridge plate, replacing the standard piezo pickup. These pickups capture both the vibrations of the strings and those of the soundboard. The result is a more natural and dynamic recording, reproducing the instrument’s original acoustic character with greater fidelity. Each Baggs HiFi DNA sensor has its own active preamp, and the volume and tone controls are located on the inner rim of the soundhole.
