Folk guitar
The Gibson J-45, nicknamed "The Workhorse," is much more than just an acoustic guitar. Introduced in 1942, it has become one of the most iconic guitars in music history, particularly renowned for its contribution to the American and international folk sound.
Overview
The Gibson J-45 is a Slope-Shoulder Dreadnought that has left its mark on generations of musicians with its warm, expressive, and balanced tone. This timeless instrument has appeared on numerous legendary albums, cementing its special place in the musical world.
All-solid-wood construction for exceptional tone
The GIBSON Modern Collection J-45 Standard (MCRS45HFVS) features all-solid-wood construction, combining traditional wood species:
- Sitka spruce top
- Mahogany body and neck
- Rosewood fingerboard (20 frets)
This classic combination offers an excellent balance between projection, warmth, and clarity, while highlighting particularly prominent midrange tones.
An innovative recording system for faithful sound reproduction
Equipped with the exclusive Baggs HiFi DNA system, the J-45 Standard stands out for its advanced recording technology. This system uses two sensors positioned beneath the bridge plate to:
- Capture the vibrations of the strings
- Record the vibrations of the soundboard
The result is an authentic and dynamic reproduction of the instrument’s original acoustic character. Each pickup has its own active preamp, with volume and tone controls discreetly integrated into the inner rim of the soundhole.
Versatility Suited to All Musical Styles
The Gibson J-45 Standard is much more than just an electro-acoustic steel-string acoustic guitar. It is fundamentally versatile, suitable for almost any musician, regardless of musical style or playing technique—whether fingerpicking or strumming.
