Overview

The Gibson J-45, affectionately nicknamed “The Workhorse,” is one of the most iconic acoustic guitars, introduced in 1942. A true benchmark in American folk music and beyond, it has been the instrument of choice on countless classic albums. Its warm, expressive, and balanced tones make it timeless and indispensable.

All-solid-wood construction for incredible tone

The GIBSON Modern Collection J-45 Standard Left-Handed (MCRS45HFHCSL) is built entirely from solid wood, combining traditional woods for optimal sound:

• Sitka spruce top
• Mahogany body and neck
• Rosewood fingerboard with 20 frets

This classic combination offers a perfect balance of projection, warmth, and clarity, with prominent midrange tones that make all the difference in your playing.

Innovative recording technology for an authentic sound

Equipped with the exclusive Baggs HiFi DNA system, this J-45 Standard features two pickups positioned beneath the bridge plate. These pickups capture:

• The vibrations of the strings
• The vibrations of the soundboard

This configuration delivers natural and dynamic recordings, faithfully reproducing the instrument’s original acoustic character. Each pickup features its own active preamp, and the volume and tone controls are located on the inner edge of the soundhole, providing easy and convenient access.
