Discover the Gibson Songwriter Recording Artist, an iconic steel-string acoustic guitar designed for professional musicians, perfect for both studio recordings and live performances.
Overview
Introduced in 1990, the Gibson Songwriter is a steel-string acoustic guitar designed to meet the needs of professional musicians, optimized for studio and live recording. It incorporates the fundamental characteristics of historic Gibson models while integrating modern features. The GIBSON Modern Collection Songwriter Recording Artist (MCSSSWRAHFRB) is a Square Shoulder Dreadnought featuring a rosewood body, an ebony fingerboard, and a Baggs HiFi DNA pickup.
All-solid-wood construction for rich, balanced tones
The Gibson Songwriter Recording Artist’s all-solid-wood construction consists of a roasted Sitka spruce solid top, a rosewood back and sides, a mahogany neck, and an ebony fingerboard (25.5" scale, 20 frets). This combination produces full, warm, and responsive tones, with:
- Full, well-defined bass
- Balanced mids
- Generous highs
The ebony fingerboard offers musical compression that can be beneficial depending on the style, while the roasting process improves the instrument’s stability, sustain, clarity, and resonance while protecting it from climate fluctuations, humidity, and mold.
An innovative preamp system for a natural sound
The Songwriter Recording Artist is equipped with the exclusive Baggs HiFi DNA system. This system uses two sensors placed under the bridge plate, replacing the usual piezo, and captures:
- The vibrations of the strings
- The vibrations of the soundboard
The result is a more natural and dynamic recording that reproduces the instrument’s original acoustic character with greater fidelity. Each Baggs HiFi DNA pickup has its own active preamp, and the volume and tone controls are thoughtfully placed on the inner rim of the soundhole.
Versatility and functionality for all musicians
The Gibson Songwriter Recording Artist, with its high-performance preamp, is a functional and versatile steel-string acoustic guitar suitable for a wide range of musicians, regardless of their musical style (folk, country, pop, rock) or playing style (fingerpicking, strumming).
