Folk guitar
The Gibson Songwriter Recording Artist EC is much more than just a steel-string acoustic guitar. Designed for professional musicians, this instrument combines tradition and innovation, offering an unparalleled musical experience both in the studio and on stage.
Overview
Introduced in 1990, the Gibson Songwriter is a steel-string acoustic guitar designed to meet the needs of professional musicians, optimized for recording in the studio and performing live. The GIBSON Modern Collection Songwriter Recording Artist EC (MCSSSCRAHFAN) is a Square Shoulder Dreadnought featuring a cutaway, a rosewood body, an ebony fingerboard, and a Baggs HiFi DNA preamp.
All-solid-wood construction for exceptional sound
The Gibson Songwriter Recording Artist EC’s all-solid-wood construction consists of a roasted Sitka spruce solid top, a rosewood back and sides, a mahogany neck, and an ebony fingerboard (25.5" scale, 20 frets). This combination produces a rich, warm, and responsive tone with:
- Full, well-defined bass
- Balanced mids
- Generous highs
The ebony fingerboard, by musically compressing the sound, delivers a rich performance, while the torrefaction process gives the wood an elegant patina while enhancing its stability, sustain, clarity, and resonance, protecting it from temperature fluctuations and humidity.
An innovative preamp system for faithful sound reproduction
Equipped with the exclusive Baggs HiFi DNA system, the Songwriter Recording Artist EC stands out for its unique approach to recording. This system uses two pickups positioned beneath the bridge, capturing the vibrations of both the strings and the soundboard, thereby enabling a natural and dynamic reproduction of the instrument’s acoustic character. Each pickup has its own active preamp with volume and tone controls located on the inner edge of the soundhole.
A versatile guitar for all musicians
Equipped with a high-performance preamp and a cutaway, the Gibson Songwriter Recording Artist EC stands out as a fundamentally functional and versatile steel-string acoustic guitar. It will suit the vast majority of musicians, regardless of their musical style (folk, country, pop, rock) or playing technique (fingerpicking, strumming).
