Overview

Introduced in 1990, the Gibson Songwriter is a steel-string acoustic guitar specially designed for musicians seeking the best in tone and comfort. The GIBSON Modern Collection Songwriter Recording Artist EC Left-Handed (MCSSSCRAHFANL) stands out for its robust construction and modern features, skillfully combining the heritage of historic Gibson models with contemporary innovation. This Square Shoulder Dreadnought, with its rosewood body and ebony fingerboard, offers an exceptional acoustic experience, enhanced by state-of-the-art preamp technology thanks to the Baggs HiFi DNA system.

All-solid-wood construction for exceptional tone

The Gibson Songwriter Recording Artist EC’s all-solid-wood construction consists of:

• Roasted Sitka spruce top
• Rosewood back and sides
• Mahogany neck
• Ebony fingerboard (25.5" scale, 20 frets)

This selection of woods produces a full, warm, and responsive tone, with rich, defined bass, balanced mids, and generous highs. Additionally, the ebony fingerboard adds a musical compression to the sound, making it perfect for a variety of musical contexts. Thanks to the torrefaction process, the wood gains an elegant patina and significant improvements in stability, sustain, clarity, and resonance, while also being protected from temperature fluctuations and humidity.

An innovative preamp system for faithful sound reproduction

Equipped with the exclusive Baggs HiFi DNA system, the Songwriter Recording Artist EC reimagines sound recording. This system uses two pickups, each with its own active preamp, positioned beneath the bridge plate to capture both the vibrations of the strings and those of the soundboard. This innovative design delivers natural and dynamic recording, faithfully reproducing the instrument’s acoustic character. The volume and tone controls are thoughtfully positioned on the inner edge of the soundhole for easy adjustment.

Uncompromising versatility for all musicians

With its cutaway and high-performance preamp, the Gibson Songwriter Recording Artist EC stands out as an extremely functional and versatile steel-string acoustic guitar. It’s ideal for a wide range of musicians, regardless of their musical style—whether folk, country, pop, or rock—or their playing style, whether fingerpicking or strumming.
