Discover the Gibson Songwriter Recording Artist Left-Handed, an exceptional steel-string acoustic guitar designed for professional musicians, offering the perfect balance between tradition and modernity.
Overview
Introduced in 1990, the Gibson Songwriter is a steel-string acoustic guitar designed to meet the needs of professional musicians, optimized for studio and live recording. It incorporates the fundamental characteristics of historic Gibson models while adding more modern features. The GIBSON Modern Collection Songwriter Recording Artist Left-Handed (MCSSSWRAHFRBL) is a Square Shoulder Dreadnought featuring a rosewood body, an ebony fingerboard, and a Baggs HiFi DNA preamp.
All-solid-wood construction for exceptional sound
The Gibson Songwriter Recording Artist’s all-solid-wood construction consists of a roasted Sitka spruce solid top, a rosewood back and sides, a mahogany neck, and an ebony fingerboard (25.5" scale, 20 frets). This combination produces a sound that is full-bodied, warm, and responsive:
- Full, well-defined bass
- Balanced mids
- Generous highs
The ebony fingerboard provides a subtle, musical compression to the sound—a desirable quality in many musical contexts. In addition, the kiln-drying process gives the wood an elegant patina and improves its stability, sustain, clarity, and resonance, while protecting it from temperature fluctuations, humidity, and mold.
A modern preamp system for faithful sound reproduction
Equipped with the exclusive Baggs HiFi DNA system, the Songwriter Recording Artist delivers natural and dynamic recording. This system uses two sensors placed beneath the bridge plate, replacing the usual piezo:
- One pickup for string vibrations
- One pickup for the vibrations of the soundboard
Each Baggs HiFi DNA pickup has its own active preamp, with volume and tone controls integrated into the inner rim of the soundhole, ensuring faithful reproduction of the instrument’s original acoustic character.
Optimal versatility for all musicians
Equipped with high-performance preamp technology, the Gibson Songwriter Recording Artist is a thoroughly functional and versatile steel-string acoustic guitar that will suit the vast majority of musicians, regardless of their musical style (folk, country, pop, rock) or playing style (fingerpicking, strumming).
