Gibson Southern Jumbo 40s Original (Baggs HiFi DNA Preamp) - vintage sunburst

The Gibson Southern Jumbo is a legendary guitar that blends tradition and modernity, and will delight all musicians with its versatility and rich tone.

Overview

The Gibson Southern Jumbo was originally produced from 1942 to 1978 as a high-end version of the popular J-45 Round Shoulder. Vintage models, particularly those from World War II with rosewood backs and sides, are highly sought after by collectors. Its warm, expressive, and balanced tone makes it a timeless choice for any musical performance.

All-solid-wood construction for exceptional sound

The GIBSON Original Collection Southern Jumbo (OCRSSJ40HFVS) is crafted from high-quality materials, entirely from solid wood, including:

• Sitka spruce top
• Rosewood body and sides
• Mahogany neck
• Rosewood fingerboard with 20 frets

Advanced recording technology for faithful sound reproduction

Equipped with the exclusive Baggs HiFi DNA system, the Southern Jumbo Original delivers remarkable sound pickup. This system uses two sensors—one to capture the vibrations of the strings and the other to capture those of the soundboard. This results in a more natural and dynamic audio reproduction, faithful to the instrument’s original acoustic sound. Each pickup has its own active preamp, and the volume and tone controls are discreetly integrated into the inner rim of the soundhole.

An Electro-Acoustic Guitar for All Styles

The Southern Jumbo Original is a highly versatile electro-acoustic steel-string acoustic guitar, perfectly suited for all types of musicians, whether they play fingerpicking or strumming. Whatever your musical style, this instrument will adapt to your needs.
