Gold Label Collection boasts a new body design, new neck joint, new bracing, a new aesthetic and foremost a stunning old-heritage sound that’s unlike anything Taylor has ever produced — more reminiscent of flattop guitars from the 1930s and 1940s.
Inspired by an older, more TAYLOR Gold Label Collection 814e Koa (Sunburst) acoustic/electric guitar combines several elements that contribute to its sound : a new Super Auditorium body style, a unique V-Class-inspired bracing pattern, and a new long-tenon neck joint.
- The proportions of Super Auditorium shape resemble Taylor’s Grand Auditorium, but the body is slightly longer and the lower bout is slightly wider.
- New Fanned V-Class bracing is a V-Class variant featuring a fan-like arrangement of braces in the soundboard’s lower bout. They are also set in place using traditional hot hide glue
- A new long-tenon neck joint enhanced wood coupling translates into greater low-end resonance and a sound some might compare to historic guitars featuring dovetail-style neck joints (this design remains glueless and brings even easier and more precise neck angle micro-adjustability to the guitar.)
The collection launches with two wood pairings : Honduran rosewood with torrefied Sitka spruce and figured Hawaiian koa with torrefied Sitka spruce.
Koa is an endemic Hawaii island dense tropical hardwood. It blends the midrange of Mahogany with the brightness of Maple. The more a Koa guitar is played, the more it opens up, with midrange overtones adding warmth and sweetness to its voice.
