Made from species we've hand-selected from Taylor's California factory inventory, the TAYLOR Custom Shop GA-E Grand Auditorium #1211163099 is an exceptional instrument, both acoustically and aesthetically.
This Grand Auditorium electro-acoustic steel-string acoustic guitar with cutaway features a "Spicey Cedar" top, a back/side combo of Tasmanian Southern Beech (or Tree Myrtle / Nothofagus cunninghamii), a species native to Southeastern Australia and Tasmania, a Maple neck and Ebony fingerboard.
Cedar (a conifer native to the Middle East, North Africa and the Himalayas, and acclimatized in Europe) is a less dense wood than Spruce. This characteristic translates acoustically into extra warmth. Cedar tends to amplify soft sounds while tempering the high volumes induced by powerful attacks.
For this reason, Cedar is ideally suited to guitarists with a moderate touch, particularly finger-pickers. If you play with a pick, test the instrument to make sure it suits your playing style. The "Tasmanian Myrtle" is perhaps the best hybrid of Mahogany and Rosewood on the planet! This species delivers warm, powerful and balanced sounds in an ideal balance. It benefits from the V-Class dams, which represent a significant evolution in the field of acoustic guitar. These innovative bracings, developed by master luthier Andy Powers, give the instrument superior projection, tonal balance, optimized intonation and remarkable sustain. The Grand Auditorium or 000 size is the consensus. In an ideal intermediate position between the Grand Concert (00 Classical style) and the essential Dreadnought, it combines ergonomics and tonal balance. It's certainly the most versatile format, suitable for flat-pickers as well as finger-pickers.Taylor Expression System 2 Preamp: to faithfully reproduce the amplitude and fundamental character of their acoustics, it took Taylor several years to develop the Expression System (ES). Thanks to new sensors and a substantially redesigned circuit, Expression System 2 offers even greater responsiveness and dynamics, and according to Taylor, around 25% more warmth.
