Koa, native to the Big Island of Hawaii, is a tropical species that can be likened to a cross between mahogany and maple. It has the ability to open up and blossom over hours of playing, and more specifically in the mid-range frequencies. These innovative bracings, developed by master luthier Andy Powers, give the instrument better projection, tonal balance, optimal intonation and incredible sustain. Taylor Expression System 2: to faithfully reproduce the amplitude and fundamental character of their acoustics, it took Taylor Guitars several years to develop Expression System (ES) 2.
Thanks to new piezo sensors installed in the fork below the nut, in the bridge and a significantly redesigned circuit, the Expression System 2 offers even greater responsiveness, dynamics and warmth.
