The TAYLOR Next Generation Builder's Edition 514ce is an evolution of the very popular Taylor Grand Auditorium (500 Series), augmented by three important improvements introduced in the Taylor 2026 catalog: - Long-Tenon Action Control Neck - Scalloped V-Class Bracing - Claria System Acoustic Electronics The "Long-Tenon Action Control Neck" design optimizes the connection between neck and body, adding warmth and depth to the sound. From a purely technical point of view, it also facilitates string height adjustment. The new "Scalloped V-Class Bracing" bracing design has a very positive impact on the sound of the instrument, without altering the renowned balance and projection of the original V-Class system. Low frequencies are even warmer and more generous, and the resonance of open strings is exacerbated.
The "Claria System Acoustic Electronics" circuit, developed in partnership with numerous leading artists and sound engineers, certainly represents the future of recording via the piezo system under the nut. An integrated proprietary preamp and Volume / Tone and Mid-Contour controls make it possible to control the harshness of traditional piezos. You can be sure of consistent, balanced sound in all circumstances.
The Grand Auditorium or 000 size is the consensus. A hybrid between the Grand Concert (00 Classic Classical style) and the indispensable Dreadnought, it is considerably more compact than the latter, which obviously makes for more pleasant ergonomics. Its acoustic amplitude is logically less pronounced, but on the other hand, amplification is easier, with fewer feedback problems.
Thanks to these innovations, and to its all-solid-wood construction (Sitka spruce top, "Shamel" ash body, African mahogany neck, Crelicam African ebony fingerboard), the TAYLOR Next Generation 514ce is a remarkable electro-acoustic guitar. Dynamic, resonant, with a projection as potentially important as it is controllable, this beauty demonstrates once again that Bob Taylor and his team are at the top of their game, but don't forget the musicians who don't have the budget for a Custom Shop grade instrument. The Ash "Shamel" comes from the reclamation of trees felled in Southern California cities for reasons of land use, safety, sanitary conditions etc... Denser, heavier and more resonant than "Swamp Ash", it produces high-quality tones akin to Honduran Mahogany. Its pronounced midrange does not disturb the overall tonal balance.
