Folk guitar
The Gibson Hummingbird Standard is a steel-string acoustic guitar that combines tradition and modernity, offering exceptional sound and technical features suited to all musicians.
Overview
Introduced in 1960, the Gibson Hummingbird is a steel-string acoustic guitar just as timeless as the J-45, the J-200, or the Martin D-28. It has been the go-to instrument for countless legendary musicians: Bob Dylan, Elvis Presley, Gram Parsons, Emmylou Harris, Keith Richards, Sheryl Crow, Eric Clapton... The GIBSON Modern Collection Hummingbird Standard (MCSSHBHFVS) retains the fundamental characteristics of the original Hummingbird, enhanced with a Baggs HiFi DNA preamp.
High-quality materials for exceptional sound
The Gibson Hummingbird Standard’s all-solid-wood construction combines traditional woods: a Sitka spruce top, a mahogany body and neck, and an Indian rosewood fingerboard (20 frets). This classic combination produces a sound that is both full-bodied and powerful, featuring:
- Generous bass response
- Prominent mids
- Rich highs without sacrificing clarity
Its natural acoustic volume is ideal for singers who accompany themselves on guitar.
Innovative preamp technology for faithful sound reproduction
The Hummingbird Standard is equipped with the exclusive Baggs HiFi DNA system. This system uses two sensors placed under the bridge instead of the usual piezo, allowing it to capture:
- String vibrations
- The vibrations of the soundboard
Each pickup has its own active preamp, and the volume and tone controls are located on the inner rim of the soundhole. This allows for natural and dynamic recording, reproducing the instrument’s original acoustic character with enhanced fidelity.
A Versatile Guitar for All Musicians
The Gibson Hummingbird Standard is a must-have electro-acoustic steel-string acoustic guitar—fundamentally versatile—that will suit most musicians, regardless of their musical style or playing technique (fingerpicking, strumming).
