The MARTIN & CO Custom Shop CS-D-C23036016 #2814869 is a 14-fret Dreadnought-style steel-string acoustic guitar for which the Star's Music team selected the species on site, in the Custom Shop Martin workshops (in this case it was set #31). It features a Sitka Spruce VTS top, Sitka Spruce bracing, an Oriental Rosewood back and side combo, and an Ebony fingerboard.
Sitka spruce is the traditional choice for the vast majority of acoustic guitars. Thanks to a perfect balance between robustness and elasticity, Sitka generates a direct, punchy sound with impeccable articulation. These characteristics give Sitka great flexibility of sound and adaptability to virtually any playing style: strumming, flatpicking or fingerpicking. The top has been subjected to the exclusive VTS (Vintage Tone System) torrefaction process. Indian rosewood is definitely one of the most popular traditional wood species. It has the fundamental imprint of Mahogany, with a strong midrange (albeit more subdued), but with a much wider range of frequencies at the bottom and top of the spectrum.
