The MARTIN & CO Custom Shop CS-OM-C23036412 #2816487 is an Orchestra Model 14 fret steel-string acoustic guitar whose wood species were selected by the Star's Music team in the Custom Shop Martin workshops. It features a Sitka Spruce top and bracing, an Oriental Rosewood back and sides combo, and an Ebony fingerboard.
Sitka spruce is the traditional choice for the vast majority of acoustic guitars. Thanks to a perfect balance between robustness and elasticity, Sitka generates a direct, punchy sound with impeccable articulation. These characteristics give this species great flexibility of sound and adaptability to virtually any playing style: strumming, flatpicking or fingerpicking. Oriental Rosewood is definitely one of the most traditional and popular species. It has the same fundamental character as mahogany, with a strong midrange (albeit more subdued), but with a much wider range of frequencies at the top and bottom of the spectrum.
