Made from species selected in person at the Taylor factory in California, the TAYLOR Custom Shop GC-E Grand Concert #1211063098 is an exceptional instrument, both acoustically and aesthetically. This electro-acoustic Grand Concert steel-string acoustic guitar with cutaway features an Adirondack Spruce top, a Honduras Rosewood back/side combo, a Mahogany neck and an Ebony fingerboard.
Abundant in the 1930s, when it was used extensively for the soundboards of Martin guitars,"Red Spruce" or "Adirondack" spruce (Picea Rubens) enjoys enormous popularity. More dense than common spruce, Adirondack spruce is exceptionally responsive. Highly appreciated, Honduras Rosewood is much denser than other rosewood species. This contributes to its harmonic richness and complexity. It produces incomparable hushed tones while preserving the clarity of more traditional rosewoods. For these reasons, Honduran Rosewood is the preserve of the most prestigious acoustics, and naturally benefits from the V-Class bracing, which represents a milestone in the field of acoustic guitars. These innovative bracings, developed by master luthier Andy Powers, give the instrument superior projection, better tonal balance, optimized intonation and remarkable sustain. Taylor introduced its Grand Concert size in 1984, to meet the demands of a certain category of highly technical guitarists. It's a compact, streamlined and extremely user-friendly format, with a small tonal footprint that makes it easy to record on stage or in the studio.
Inducing less string tension, the 24.7/8" scale also contributes to the great playing comfort of these models.
Taylor Expression System 2 Preamp: in order to faithfully reproduce the amplitude and fundamental character of their acoustics, it took Taylor several years to develop the Expression System (ES). Thanks to new sensors and a significantly reworked circuit, the Expression System 2 offers even greater responsiveness and dynamics, and according to Taylor, around 25% more warmth.
