Made from species selected in person at the Taylor factory in California, the TAYLOR Custom Shop GC-E Grand Concert #1211103097 is an exceptional instrument, both acoustically and aesthetically. This Grand Concert electro-acoustic steel-string acoustic guitar with cutaway features a Stripy Sinker Redwood top, Indian Rosewood back and side combo, Mahogany neck and Ebony fingerboard.
Sinker Redwood can be considered an exceptional Cedar, with a responsiveness and brilliance well above the average. Indian Rosewood is definitely one of the most popular traditional species. It has the same fundamental character as mahogany, with a strong midrange (albeit more subdued), but with a much wider range of frequencies at the top and bottom of the spectrum. Naturally, it benefits from the V-Class dams, which represent a major development in the field of acoustic guitars. These innovative bracings, developed by master luthier Andy Powers, give the instrument superior projection, better tonal balance, optimized intonation and remarkable sustain. Taylor introduced its Grand Concert size in 1984, to meet the demands of a certain category of highly technical guitarists. It's a compact, streamlined and extremely user-friendly format, with a small tonal footprint that makes it easy to record on stage or in the studio.
Inducing less string tension, the 24.7/8" scale also contributes to the great playing comfort of these models.
Taylor Expression System 2 Preamp: in order to faithfully reproduce the amplitude and fundamental character of their acoustics, it took Taylor several years to develop the Expression System (ES). Thanks to new sensors and a significantly reworked circuit, the Expression System 2 offers even greater responsiveness and dynamics, and according to Taylor, around 25% more warmth.
