The MARTIN & CO Custom Shop Dreadnought CS-D-C22034245 Adirondack/Guatemalan #2736833 is a 14-fret Dreadnought-style steel-string acoustic guitar, with AdirondackVTS* spruce top, Honduras rosewood back and sides, and Ebony fingerboard (all species are of course solid and selected with the greatest intransigence for their acoustic and aesthetic qualities).
Adirondack is one of the most sought-after varieties of spruce. Its clarity and projection are unquestionably superior to those of traditional Sitka Spruce, with hushed midrange. Guatemalan Rosewood has tonal qualities close to those of Brazilian Rosewood, whose exploitation has unfortunately been banned by the CITES organization. The Sitka Spruce top and bracing have been subjected to the exclusive VTS (Vintage Tone System) torrefaction process. This is a high-temperature thermo-chemical treatment of the species that gives them the appearance and acoustic behavior of ancient woods.
