Boasting signature Taylor playability, rich sound and tasteful aesthetics, the 200 Series offers players of all skill levels a gig-ready instrument at a price that accommodates working musicians. Their appeal with a trio of striking color treatments featuring transparent tops that showcase both color and wood grain.
TAYLOR 214ce Plus Special Edition (Trans Blue) features versatile Grand Auditorium body crafted with backs and sides of layered sapele. The trans blue and trans grey models feature a solid Engelmann spruce top, which delivers a clear, balanced voice with a wide dynamic range that suits any scenario, while the back, sides and neck showcase a black finish. The trans red model features a top of solid mahogany, yielding a woody, warm response and a touch of natural compression to even out an
aggressive attack, with a red finish on the back, sides and neck that highlights the wood grain.
All three models incorporate our cantilevered V-Class bracing, which coaxes out more volume, sustain and harmonic agreement between notes across the tonal spectrum.
With the accommodating contours of the Grand Auditorium body, the slender Taylor neck profile and comfortable 1-11/16” nut width, players can expect a smooth feel with low action and easy fretting up the neck. Other appointments include a gloss-finish body with either white binding (trans blue and grey models) or black (trans red), Small Diamond fretboard inlays in Italian acrylic with a matching single-ring rosette, a black pickguard and satin black tuning machines.
All three models feature ES2 electronics and come with a lightweight, sturdy AeroCase.
Englemann is a sought after Spruce with fantastic tone characteristics. Softer and paler in color than Adirondack and Sitka, Engelmann has a mature tone, and yields a slightly richer midrange, which makes a guitar sound a bit more "vintage". Softer attack with a fantastic clarity.
Sapele is a perfectly suitable Mahogany substitute. Sounds much like its cousin but due to the hardness, a little brighter.
